He inhaled a seed maybe? I wonder how it grew without photosynthesis? Maybe he was thin enough to allow a low level amount of light to penetrate his chest cavity?

I agree as well! There are way to many needles on it to have grown without photosynthesis. It looks nothing like a seedling, it looks like a small tree branch. It also looks like it has no roots.

how in the world do you inhale a seed to the bottom of your lungs without coughing it up?

If the seed was small enough you would never know.Also it was stuck in the lung so coughing it would not do much.

Trees also live off carbon dioxide, and your lungs convert oxygen into CD. Energy from sunlight can penetrate flesh as well soooooo
